NEN Gets Clean & Green

NEN Clean & Green Summit

May 8, 2010 marked the Neighborhood Empowerment Network’s Clean & Green Summit 2010 at the Cesar Chavez Elementary School. The event was a chance for San Franciscans to get acquainted with some of the City’s most active green leaders and organizations. The Summit began with a resource festival that allowed residents to connect with local organizations and city agencies, followed by break-out work shops, and a walking tour of some of the Mission districts newest green spots. NPC was on-hand to share with attendees about our programs and current work.
The work shops included topics such as: urban agriculture, greening your neighborhoods open-spaces, rain water harvesting, and demystifying the community challenge grant process just to name a few.  In the spirit of the Neighborhood Empowerment Network’s mission the Clean & Green Summit provided the tools and knowledge for participants to build connections, organize their community, secure project funding, make their neighborhoods more sustainable, and ultimately become more empowered.
