Database and Program Assistant
Steven joined the Neighborhood Parks Council in September 2009 as an intern from San Francisco State University. Upon graduating in January 2010, with a BA in Urban Studies and Planning, he was elevated to part-time staff member and took on an increased role in NPC’s operations. As the database assistant, he is responsible for maintenance of the organization’s SalesForce CRM database, including data entry, dupe elimination, and general cleanup. As the program assistant, Steven helps with various projects, including GIS mapping, Web site maintenance (both sfnpc.org and ParkScan.org), coalition meetings, event staffing, outreach, conducting park visits (for surveying and data collection), technical writing and editing, production of the annual ParkScan report and bi-annual Playground Report Card, and assembling informational packets for the Board of Supervisors.
Prior to joining NPC, Steven served four years in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, WA., where he worked as a Personnel Services Specialist until his honorable discharge in June 2001. He also worked as a Loss Prevention Specialist for the Wells Fargo Business Purchasing Services Center in San Francisco, as a meat-counter clerk for Andronico’s in the Sunset District, and a special-projects assistant at the City Fields Foundation.
An avid photographer, Steven resides in El Cerrito, CA., with two roommates and two cats. His favorite parks are Golden Gate Park and Sutro Heights Park in San Francisco, Seattle’s Kerry Park and Volunteer Park, and Battery Park in New York City.
